![]() Eaux-de-Vie
Some of the best Eaux de Vie are made in Alsace, where we buy from the excellent G. Miclo distillery which is situated in a small valley in the Vosges mountains. The Dupont family’s Calvados is double distilled and aged in oak barrels to make a particularly fine spirit. Their estate is in the superior Pays d’Auge area of Calvados, due south of Deauville. Liqueurs Crème de Menthe, the mint liqueur known as Menthe Pastille in France, was invented by Bruno Giffard’s forbear using a strain of peppermint he found in Surrey! His family gave up their pharmacy shop in the centre of Angers many years ago and have a good site in the outskirts where they make an excellent range of liqueurs using fruit from the Loire Valley and beyond. Listed also are some of the better and more unusual liqueurs. All sizes are 70cl bottles unless otherwise indicated. ![]() ![]() |
