 • Tutored Tasting with Javier Hidalgo - SOLD OUT Clive Tanner Room, Tanners, Shrewsbury Tuesday 7th February 2012 7pm start – 9pm Javier Hidalgo will preside over a launch tasting for La Gitana En Rama at Wyle Cop, the night after the national launch at the Mentzendorff tasting. There will be some other manzanillas and Hidalgo sherries to try too under Javier’s expert guidance. • Walk-round Tasting of Wines for Spring Tanners, Shrewsbury Tuesday 13th March 2012 6.30pm start – 9pm Tickets £17.50 each Join us for an informal tasting of 35 wines in our atmospheric passageways and cellars in Shrewsbury. Many of the wines will be poured by the winemakers themselves who will give you a fascinating insight into their land, their vines and winemaking techniques. 150 tickets are available but we expect them to sell out fast as this is a hugely popular event. To book a place please call into the Shrewsbury Cellars Shop or phone us on 01743 234455. • Tasting at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum in the Glass Classroom at Coalbrookdale Wednesday 14th March 2012 7.30pm start Tickets £22 each or £20 each when you buy 5 or more The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust is holding a relaxed and informal wine tasting evening with Tanners wines on the 14th March at 7.30pm. The evening will be held in the Glass Classroom at Coalbrookdale and is a great opportunity to have an enjoyable night out with friends. An experienced wine tutor from Tanners, will be there to guide everyone through a delicious and varied selection of wines. The evening is perfect for novices wishing to learn a little more about wine or just to try some new varieties. All wines will be accompanied by delicious local nibbles, kindly provided by the Apley Farm Shop, Shropshire. Tickets cost just £22 each, but if you purchase 5 or more tickets, the price reduces to just £20 per person. Brompton Cookery School
Friday 10th February 2012 Friday 20th April 2012 6.30pm to 8.30pm Jonathan Hislop, an experienced lecturer in Wine Appreciation, will explore the challenges of choosing the most appropriate wine to complement food. This course aims to identify some memorable food and wine pairings and celebrate the enjoyment and appreciation of wine and food. Seven different styles of wine from around the world will be tasted and each wine, in turn, matched against a different food sensation. Debate and discussion is encouraged and consensus may be reached! In General...
We hold regular wine tastings for customers during the year. Of particular interest to private customers are our tutored tastings held at Wyle Cop when visiting producers from all over the world come to talk about their wines. Our Spring Tastings are usually held in March and are supported by many overseas suppliers who come over to present their wines. Bottles are often open at each of our four branches for customers to try. If you have any questions about them - just ask! Wine Circles
The Bridgnorth Tasting Circle
Regular tutored tastings for the Bridgnorth Wine Circle are held in the tasting room above Tanners historic branch in Bridgnorth. The tasting starts with a welcome drink at 7pm followed by a tutored tasting of around 8 wines under the guidance of branch manager, Mark Carter. Tickets are £15 each and numbers are limited to 50 people.
