At Tanners we never disclose details of our mailing list or customer base to any other organisation. All the information collected, when you first register or shop with us online, is to enable us to give you the highest level of service possible.

We accept payment when ordering online by Maestro and Connect debits cards, Visa and Mastercard. We do not accept payment by Electron, Solo, Diners or JCB. We currently cannot accept online payment via American Express. Sorry we cannot currently accept Tanners vouchers as payment online, but they can be redeemed via post or at any of our branches. Please note Tanners Account holders cannot book goods to their account through the website; all website transactions require payment by debit/credit card at time of purchase.

Account holders can pay outstanding invoices online, via online banking, into Tanners bank account (number 02567732, sort code 30-97-62) but you must quote your Tanners customer number.

We operate a signature service on all deliveries. Goods can be left unsigned but you must specify this on your order with instructions where to leave the goods should you be out.

Orders to the value of £90 or more to one address are delivered free in mainland Britain (except the Scottish Highlands) at the prices shown on this site. For smaller orders please add £7.95 per address. Minimum order value is £25 excluding delivery.

We are fortunate in that many of our staff have been with us a long time. All sales staff work to pass their Wine and Spirit Education Trust Intermediate Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Diploma examinations as quickly as they can practically do so. They are encouraged to taste whenever possible, and at Wyle Cop there is a wine for staff to taste blind every day.

We value wines for customers free of charge and will usually purchase at market prices, or advise clients on how to sell. We have an eager market for old and interesting wines. For a regular delivery of a reasonably priced selection of wines you need look no further than Wine in Time. We will send you an assorted case of wine, monthly or every other month depending on your requirements, so you need never again be faced by a sadly empty wine rack. Each case will contain two bottles of six different wines, some long standing favourites and some more unusual with, over the year, roughly equal numbers of reds and whites. You can choose between dozens at £80 or £100, payments can be made by Direct Debit, Credit Card or on Tanners Account.

We have no facilities for delivering ice but it can be collected from our branches in Shrewsbury, Hereford or Bridgnorth, please ring in advance to reserve stock. Bags of approximately 2kg cubes cost 90 pence. Bottles lain in any large container with a good covering of ice will be chilled to a perfect 10°C in thirty minutes. Adding water is unnecessary and only serves to soak off labels.

We hold regular wine tastings for customers during the year. Of particular interest are the tutored tastings held at Wyle Cop when producers talk about their wines as they are tasted. Participants are limited to 48. Our Spring Tastings held over two nights in March/April are normally attended by some of our overseas suppliers. Our two nights of tastings in early November concentrate on wines for Christmas. Numbers for all these evenings are limited to 150. Please see the Tastings page for details of forthcoming tastings. Bespoke tastings for groups are undertaken whenever feasible.
