Pape-Clément has a claim as the oldest wine-producing property in Bordeaux, with continuous production since the 13th century. Steeped in history, Bertrand de Goth purchased the estate in 1299 and became Pope Clément V six years later. Bought by Paul Montagne in 1939, it is now run by his son Léo and Montagne Cie. This estate is now one of the stars of Bordeaux, producing wines with complex aromatics, and mouthfuls of fruit, laced with minerals and spice. Small production of 600 cases per annum with profound wines in the finest vintages.
