Well positioned in the heart of the commune and with deep, stony, calcareous soils, Perrières typically has supreme balance between richness and acidity. This is a great example with a racy and floral character, as well as depth.

Etienne Sauzet founded the domaine, based in the village of Puligny-Montrachet, in 1903 with 12 hectares. In 1974 his grand-daughter, Jeannine married Gérard Boudot and they took over completely in 1975. Since then the reputation of Sauzet has grown hugely. Inheritance resulted in the loss of four hectares, so the Boudot now buy in enough grapes to make up the balance. Anthony Hanson in his book 'Burgundy' describes Gérard Boudot as "One of the most dazzling white-winemakers in Burgundy".
