The uppermost 1er cru on the Meursault boundary, Champ Canet has stony soils producing here a very concentrated, complex wine which combines the fragrant, hazelnut character of Meursault with the attractive minerality of Puligny.

Etienne Sauzet founded the domaine, based in the village of Puligny-Montrachet, in 1903 with 12 hectares. In 1974 his grand-daughter, Jeannine married Gérard Boudot and they took over completely in 1975. Since then the reputation of Sauzet has grown hugely. Inheritance resulted in the loss of four hectares, so the Boudot now buy in enough grapes to make up the balance. Anthony Hanson in his book 'Burgundy' describes Gérard Boudot as "One of the most dazzling white-winemakers in Burgundy".
