Moët and Chandon was established in 1743 and is now part of the large Louis-Vuitton-Moët-Hennessy group. Their ownership of vineyards extends into ten out of twelve Grand Cru communes, with a production of 22 million bottles per annum. Brut Imperial is so named because it was Napoleon's favourite.
