![]() ![]() ![]() Producer Profile...
The floral, elegant, slightly citrusy champagnes of Pol Roger lead many to assume that Chardonnay is the dominant grape here, when in actual fact black grapes play a more important role in most of Pol Roger’s champagnes. That elegant style means that perfectly healthy grapes have to be used which is easier for Pol Roger because have their own extensive vineyard holdings. The Pol-Roger family and their cousins the de Billys still maintain ties with the family of Sir Winston Churchill, the most famous fan of Pol Roger champagnes. He even had a racehorse called Odette Pol-Roger! Hubert de Billy did a wonderful tasting for customers at Wyle Cop a year or two back.
