All ungrafted vines of 40 to 100 years age grown on blue slate soil. This young couple have come up trumps with a super fresh, aromatic Kabinett with nice spicy mineral tones.

Konstantin Weiser and Alexandra Künstler made their first wines in 2005 from a vineyard area of just three hectares. Although neither is originally from the Mosel they had an interest in the region and its wines, so when the chance came to get some terraced, old vine, ungrafted vineyards on a long term lease they jumped at it. The first wines were made at a friend’s winery but they now have a house and cellar in the town of Traben, just across the river from the vineyards on the classic steep sites of Enkirch and Traben. Everything is done as naturally as possible, no herbicides are used and the vines are trained in the traditional Mosel method even though this is a much longer and therefore more expensive process, as they believe this gives the leaves better exposure to the sun. They have already attracted favourable reviews from the likes of Jancis Robinson, Stuart Pigott and the Wine Advocate. We very much believe that this is a winery to watch.
