Run by brothers Volker and Werner Knipser, this 22 hectare estate lies in the north of the Pfalz. Half of the production is red, the other half white and mostly dry. Barrique aging is used for some of the whites, and most of the reds. They have a huge reputation in Germany, especially for their reds which are fine, and elegant, reminiscent of a good Chambolle. A large new chai and barrel cellar is concrete proof of this estate's success.
