![]() ![]() ![]() Producer Profile...
This is a 625 hectare estate located in the western fringes of the Transylvania/Barat region near the city of Timisoara in the west of the country. Wine has been produced here continuously since 1477 but it has been completely replanted in the past ten years and a state of the art winery built which was completed in 2010. The wines are made by Australian Hartley Smithers and Spaniard Nora Iriate who have worked with local viticulturists and winemakers over the past 7 years to create modern, fruit driven wines. Whites are harvested early in the morning and fermented in stainless steel to maintain freshness, part of the Pinot undergoes carbonic maceration and the rest is very lightly oaked. They are environmentally conscious, having the most up to date waste water re-processing plant in Central Europe - and everything is conducted in a high quality, modern, attention to detail way.
