![]() ![]() ![]() Producer Profile...
In 1978 Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl took over his parents mixed farm situated a few kilometres north of Vienna and decided to produce wine exclusively. Over the years they purchased top quality vineyards in the area around Stetten, gradually building up the estate to the 60 hectares it comprises today. 75% is planted with white grapes, mainly Grüner Veltliner with Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Blanc. Zweigelt, St Laurent, Pinot Noir and Cabernet comprise the balance. Viticulture is as natural as possible, no pesticides or chemical fertilisers are used and all grapes are picked by hand. Winemaking is in a new winery, mostly in stainless steel for both red and white. The wines have plenty of juicy fruit but also reflect their terroirs. The business is still family run with the three children, Elisabeth, Heidemarie and Roman working with their parents.
