This domaine was originally founded by Françis Tête, a barrel maker who passed it to his son Raymond. Raymond began selling directly to customers from the cellar door and in 1980 passed it on to his son Michel and wife Françoise. They consolidated the holdings, naming it Domaine du Clos du Fief and it now covers 13 hectares in Juliénas, Saint Amour and Beaujolais-Villages. The cellars are in Juliénas. There is also a small parcel of Beaujolais Blanc. Michel works in the traditional way with a semi-carbonic maceration and remontage (pumping over) several times a day to keep the cap submerged. His wines are fleshy and generous. They are well distributed and can be found in many Michelin starred restaurants in France.
