This is a lovely, powerful wine with an almost roasted nut aroma, great elegance and concentration, with a hint of apricots and citrus on the finish.

Château Rieussec has been owned by many different parties, with a fair amount of re-planting taking place in the early 1970s. Since 1984 its 90 hectares, which spread out over the hillsides of Fargues and Sauternes, have been in the capable hands of Lafite-Rothschild. Great investment, low yields and attention to detail result in hugely concentrated, elegant wines that see a lot of new oak.

A stunning wine, probably the best of the 2005 vintage after d'Yquem. Lovely botrytis...
