Journey's End 'Haystack' Chardonnay
Stellenbosch 2010 | Bin KW03210
£10.30
Region
In the Press: The Western Mail - Jan 2012
A big, rich, South African Chardonnay packed with ripe tropical fruit flavours and a buttery character, it has good acidity which stops this being cloying. The Gabb family, who own this property, were originally from Shropshire.
Press Comments
"From the Stellenbosch region in South Africa. It has warm sweet wood notes from the time in oak to the bouquet with exotic white fruits prominent. Initially on the palate the buttery fruit is rich and deep. There is a mineral lift through the mid palate that creates even more interest and a little herby note sits in the background. A delicious opulent chardonnay for those who like their whites to have plenty of oomph."
Neil Cammies, The Western Mail - Jan 2012

"... a multi-award-winning Chardonnay of great breeding. With plenty of vanilla-rich tropical fruit, it's quite a mouthful, but has a balanced minerality on the finish and plenty of freshness."
Jonathan Ray, GQ - Aug 2010

"I have followed this estate for years and 2010 Haystack is the finest wine to date. Perfect balance, seamless, honeyed, stone fruit flavours and a breathtakingly classy finish make it the most luxurious long lunch choice particularly if you are serving really smart seafood."
