From Michèle Laurent's non-fertilised, organically run old-vine vineyards, this wine gets more intense each vintage. Warm, balanced, Grenache-based spicy flavours bring a rich mellow feel to the wine. Excellent.

An infectiously enthusiastic winemaker, Michèle Aubrey-Laurent of Domaine Gramenon produces exceptional Côtes du Rhône-Villages wines which are always marked by a layered bouquet, vibrant fruit and delicious fresh acidity. She farms her vineyards organically and biodynamically, certified as such in 2009, using only natural treatments and homeopathic-style preparations, and is assisted by her son, Maxime-François, who is also now making his own wines from vineyards in Valréas. Gramenon vineyards are planted at a relatively high altitude of 300 metres lending the wines real freshness and, crucially, avoiding the over-ripe, jammy flavours that are all too often found in less exciting southern Rhône wines. An excellent winemaker making wines that are virtually sulphur free. The estate is near Valréas at the northen end of the southern Rhône.
