This was the first legal distillery in Scotland, and the only one allowed to be called "The Glenlivet". A classic Highland malt: light, delicate and very floral with vanilla and peach fruit and an elegant, restrained, warming finish.

Scotland was full of illicit distilleries but by 1823 it became possible to apply for a licence. George Smith was the successful applicant and promptly registered the Glenlivet name because it already had a fine reputation having been supplied, albeit wholly illegally, to King George IV.
