Jura has just one distillery making a more delicate style compared with neighbouring Islay. A salty, piney nose with a sweetish, oily palate. Notes of malt, salt, then delicate peat and a smoky nuttiness. A lingering smooth finish.

This is the only distillery on the island of Jura. Initially illicit production took place in caves along the shore but by 1775 distilling at Craighouse began. The laird was very demanding and in 1901 the distillery shut. It was re-built in the 1960s and equipped to produce Highland-style whisky.
