The distillery is at Kirkwall and is the most northerly in Britain. It was built in 1798 on the site of a smuggler's still, a church official who hid full casks in false coffins and in the pulpit to avoid excise officers! It is highly traditional and one of the greatest 'all-round' whiskies.
