Spain is far better known for its red wine than its whites. The more ambitious producers who sought international recognition, however, have been tempted to try for something more in tune with modern tastes, coupling inherent fruit flavours with freshness and balance. Especially recommended are the delicious Albariño Lagar de Cervera from Galicia with its lovely richness but crisp citric acidity - quite Alsace like and the zesty opulent, grapefruity Pazo de Senorans. In the foothills of the Pyrenees, the altitude of the Viñas del Vero vineyard enables fresh, balanced wines to be produced.
