Traditional Method
Traditional Method is one of 4 processes that can be employed to ensure there are bubbles in your fizz. The term 'Traditional method' is applied to sparkling wines where a secondary fermentation has been triggered in the bottle to ensure effervescence. The equivalent name 'méthode champenoise', is used when referring to the production of Champagne. The method used is often identical for other top quality sparkling wines but méthode traditionnelle or the local language equivalent is used on the label.
