In the heart of Bridgnorth’s pretty High Town, the Bridgnorth branch is perhaps the most attractive of our shops, and importantly it also has its own car park. Carrying almost the full range of our wines plus spirits and other drinks, Tanners Bridgnorth is well worth the trip from the Black Country, Worcestershire and further away. Extensive cellars and stores mean there is plenty of stock, and regular tastings are held in the large upstairs tasting room. The branch dates from 1825, but has been part of Tanners since 1926. Mark Carter, Manager, Helen Chaudron and Tim Darrall-Jones would love to see you there.
How to find us:
Our Bridgnorth Branch address is 36 High Street, Bridgnorth, Shropshire WV16 4DB
As you come uphill from Low Town on the old Much Wenlock road, turn right at the mini-roundabout into St Mary’s Street. Our customer car park is on the right under an archway after a few hundred yards. A passageway leads you up to the High Street and the front of the shop.
Meet the Team:
Mark Carter, Manager
Something of a James Bond fan(atic), Mark joined Tanners in 2002. It should come as no surprise that Vesper Martinis, Champagne and Whisky feature high on his favourite drinks list and that his top 3 ultimate dinner party guests would include Ian Fleming (along with Alan Titchmarsh and Frankie Boyle).
Mark's most memorable wine experience was enjoying an unbelievably good wine dinner at Roederer HQ - which inspired him to come home and invest in some Cristal for his cellar.
Growing up, Mark dreamt of being number 9 for the 'Mighty Wolves', nowadays he would just like to have a small part in a Bond film - nothing fancy.
Helen Chaudron, Wine Adviser
Helen dreamt of being a ballerina when she was growing up but was satisfied qualifying as a ballet and modern theatre dance teacher and living vicariously through her daughter's dancing instead.
She joined Tanners in 2005 with a background in restaurant and retail management and as Champagne is her all time favourite tipple (accompanied with sushi when possible), Helen's hoping to visit Champagne soon.
When not selling wine, Helen enjoys inviting family and friends over for dinner where she's likely to serve up a mean moussaka, Helen also enjoys long walks with her husband and their black Labrador/Collie cross.
Tim Darrall Jones, Wine Adviser
Tim joined us in 2006 and promptly achieved his Advanced WSET certificate. Away from the books, he has enjoyed wine tours of Tuscany, Navarra and Provence and aspires to visit as many wine regions as possible.
If Tim could change two things about the wine industry they would be duty and tax.
