Apéritifs
These are drinks traditionally taken before a meal to stimulate the appetite. Dry white wines, dry Sherries, Champagne are all traditionally drunk as an apéritif. In France they quite often serve spirits such as the aniseed based Pastis or they may choose something sweeter such Pineau des Charentes, Port or even a sweet white wine or the famous Kir of Burgundy.
