Alto del Obre Crianza, Rioja 2014
Exclusive to Tanners, this supple red wine is a fine balance of toasty oak and ripe red grapes. Made by Bodegas Taron in the Rioja Alta, their Tempranillo pulls all the rich mineral goodness from the ground and mixes it with Spanish sunshine. Crianza, which by law has to spend a year in barrel, walks a fine line between lovely round fruit and subtle oaky spiciness. Too much of either and you lose the harmony. This wine is just right, and a credit to a Rioja bodega we think is very much ‘on the up’. A good match for cheese dishes, or a slice of roast lamb for Sunday lunch.
