Vintage Champagne

Vintage champagnes are only produced in the best years. They have undergone a longer maturation than their non-vintage counterparts and consequently have more depth and complexity along with more bready flavours and aromas. For champagne to be specified as ‘vintage’, 100% of the grapes must have been grown in the year on the label. Vintage champagnes spend a minimum of three years on their lees whilst some of the top champagne houses keep their wines on the lees in excess of five, or even ten years, in some cases. There is still good value to be had here in the likes of the Fleur Noire from Beaumont des Crayères.
