Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild

It has a justifiably fine reputation and was promoted to premier Cru classé in 1973 the only château to manage this since the original classification in 1855. Baroness Philippine de Rothschild took over the estate on her father's death in 1988.

In great years Mouton achieves an opulence surpassing its first growth neighbours who favour power or elegance. Its labels have proved collectors' items in their own right, with artists being commissioned annually since 1945 - famous names include Picasso and Warhol.
