In 1981 he founded the Pask winery in the area of the Ngaruroro River after spotting the potential of the stony soil from the air, and the first vines were planted in what today is the famous Gimblett Gravels wine district. Pask’s first vintage was a 1985 Cabernet Sauvignon and it received much acclaim. In 1991 he employed Roseworthy graduate, Kate Radburnd as winemaker and their reputation grew from strength to strength. Today Kate is co-owner, chief winemaker and managing director of Pask, and is one of New Zealand’s most respected winemakers.
