Pinot Noir, Esterházy 2015
Aged for 12 months in wooden casks, this is a strawberry and cherry scented Pinot with nuances of oak. Esterházy is making very polished and stylish reds under winemaker Josef Pusch. Excellent value compared to similar priced Burgundy.

...this is understated and supple with a stony edge to the sweet cherry fruit and a hint of sour cherries adding interest. It’s light, delicate and elegant.’
Definitely worth a visit to any of the 7 @TannersWines outlets, although it was 175 years ago that William Tanner set up shop in Shrewsbury. The Austrian Esterházy 2015 Pinot Noir was a light damson mouthful. Perfect with the crispy roast duck.
An enticingly scented, pale garnet Pinot Noir from the Austrian Schloss where Haydn was long-time resident composer for the Esterházy family (useful fact for those Christmas quizzes). Lovely, pure cherry fruit flowing across the delicate, smooth, nutty and spicy flavours that have come from 12 months' ageing in wooden casks.
