Château Beaumont, Haut-Médoc 2023 En Primeur - Case of 12

In past vintages we have felt Beaumont was worthy if not hugely exciting and often out-done by other favourites of ours in the Medoc. This year however, tasting it at big brother Beychevelle, we were very impressed. It is a big property of 115 ha planted with Cab, Merlot and Petit Verdot, in a combination that has performed very well. With an enticing nose of black fruit, the palate is quite big and showy with a touch of liquorice on damson fruit. While still quite solid in texture, you’ll notice more polish and breeding than normal, while the finish is measured and clean. Better than we expected, certainly worth considering.
