French Favourites - Mixed Half Dozen
Take a turn around France and find six classic French wines in this box, all at the top of their game. Muscadet may sound very ‘70s, but it has seen a big resurgence of interest and an influx of young winemakers, meaning the bar has risen and some superb wines are now emerging. Alsace sticks to whites but the intensity and generosity of flavour has never been better as the climate warms a touch, and the same can be said for the South West of France where our own French Rosé is on top form. If you’re a Rosé fiend, then no doubt you’ll be drawn to Provence – Pey Blanc make a cultured, refined, elegant style outside Aix, perfect for sipping in the sunshine. Tanners Rhône Valley Red has warmth and suppleness built in, yet plenty of ripe fruit to balance the weight; it is an effortless pairing with so many supper dishes. Lastly, we’ve gone ‘retro’ again, the run of great Beaujolais vintages continues and Colonge’s Fleurie is brimming with soft, bright, juicy fruit to remind you of why we fell in love with it all those years ago.
