Quarles Harris

Quarles Harris

Founded in 1680 by Thomas Dawson, Quarles Harris married Dorothea Dawson in 1752. The company grew to be the second largest shipper and was sold to Andrew Symington in the 1920s. Quarles Harris is a trading name and has no vineyards of its own but the Vintage Port is worth seeking out.

The Symingtons source grapes from excellent quintas and use modern techniques including pressing by robotic ‘feet’ to produce structured, elegant wines that usually drink 5 to 10 years before the more famous names.
