Quinta do Passadouro

Quinta do Passadouro

Traditionally single quintas like this lovely 18th century estate sold their grapes to the Port houses in Oporto for blending, but some like Passadouro have started marketing their wine directly.

Belgian businessman Dieter Bohrmann purchased the property in 1991, with table wine in mind. Until 2003 wines from the best sites were sold to Dirk Niepoort for Redoma. Under winemaker Jorge Borges who favours treading by foot, and with a new barrel cellar plus new plantings, the future seems bright.
