Santenay 1er cru Les Beauregards, Laurent Borgeot 2015
From perhaps the best 1er cru in Santenay, this has an excellent combination of softness and structure. It is full of dark fruit - damsons and loganberries - and is very intense, masculine and long.

If you want a classic Burgundian Pinot Noir to drink, or give, this Christmas, here's a Santenay Premier Cru possibility. It has the intensity and structure to age, but the 2015 vintage's generosity of fruit and flavour, combining dark plum and raspberry fruit with savoury, autumnal undergrowth, makes it eminently drinkable now.
