Mostly from the island’s signature grape assyrtiko, this is a fitting tribute to winemaker Haridmos Hatzidakis, who sadly passed away in August. Smoky and flinty with peach and lemon, it’s a compelling bottle.
Brothers Steffan and Andreas Rings have transformed the family bulk wine business into a top-quality estate in a very short time. This expressive Riesling has grapefruit and stone fruit notes, a vivid mineral core and honeyed finish. A serious dry wine at an inviting price.
…Hatzidakis’s steely, salty, zesty mineral-charged 2016 is a gem.
Scintillating (as ever) Assyrtiko from Haridimos Hatzidaki, the master of Santorini working with grapes from volcanic soils and producing a wine with an electric mineral current and luminous fresh lemon juice, zest and pithiness. Great with fish and seafood.
Fragrant and zesty, this outstanding Assyrtiko is gorgeous with a Greek Salad.
