Tanner & Southam Celebration 175 Amber Ale - Case 12 x 50cl
Brewed at the Battlefield Brewery in Shrewsbury especially for Tanners, this pale ale employs three malts: Maris Otter, Caragold and Amber for colour, and five hops: Magnum, Cascade, Aramis, Delta and Pacifica for flavour. Just for fun we also added half a bottle of Tanners Champagne to the brew!
Celebration 175 has an inviting nose of malts and hops, in the mouth it is full, smooth and flavoursome with a refreshing dry hoppy finish. We’ve ensured a good life on it too with a best before date of February 2018. Fortuitously the strength is 4.2% ABV reflecting our founding date of 1842. We’re assured by the ale aficionados in the Tanners team that our new ale is a similar style to Old Speckled Hen or Spitfire.
To put our new ale in context, Tanners, and the companies it has acquired over the years, have a long tradition of selling beer and, up until the 1960’s, we were bringing Bass Ale into Shrewsbury on the train from Burton-upon-Trent for bottling in our premises. With that in mind it seemed only fitting that we celebrate 175 years of trading in Shrewsbury with a Celebration Beer, the first beer we have had bottled under our name for half a century.
