Tanners pride themselves on developing close relationships with theirs suppliers which lasts through the generations. Their Bourgogne Rouge from the Potel family shows how this approach works - a lovely muscular yet mellow Burgundy for a fair price. Not easy to achieve.
You would expect that a wine wearing the Tanners name would be pretty good in the first place. Of course, Burgundy is a big ask, particularly when you are endeavouring to keep the price affordable. Well, guess what? This wine, from the epic 2015 vintage stacks up perfectly, with a pinpoint accurate Pinot nose and a silky, lithe palate. What I like every bit as much as the front palate is the firm acidity and fine tannins on the finish. This is not a wine which is going to fall over soon. Roche de Bellene is an excellent setup and they have taken guidance from Tanners and created a mightily impressive wine.
