Nikka Whisky

Masataka Taketsuru travelled to Scotland in 1918 where he studied whisky making at the University of Glasgow. In 1920, he returned to Japan with his Scottish bride, Rita, where, working at Suntory, he helped produce Japan's first whisky and in 1934 founded his own distillery in Yoichi.

Today, Nikka whiskies garner plaudits and awards from around the world; the latest for Nikka Coffey Malt awarded Best Grain Whisky Trophy at the International Spirits Challenge 2017.
