Château Bélair Monange, 1er grand cru classé 'B' Saint-Emilion 2022 En Primeur - Case of 6

£850.50

Often overlooked, this estate is definitely one to seek out. A beautifully crafted wine, the 2022 offers up enticing notes of damson, forest fruits, plums and flora. Big in structure but still supple, the minerality and youthful acidity shine through. Long and layered on the finish, this is another classy release from this consistently excellent Chateau. 5-15 years

Château Bélair-Monange

Marvellously situated property on the slopes just outside the town of St-Emilion next to Ausone, with vineyards on the limestone slopes and plateau, and fantastic cellars that run back underneath the town.

For a while under the same ownership as Ausone, the estate passed on the death of Madame Dubois-Challon to the long-term manager Pascal Delbeck who was faced with an estate in desperate need of modernisation and crippling death duties. Initially the famous Libourne négociants JP Moueix took a 30% stake but purchased the property outright in 2008. Instant changes were made in the vineyard and harvesting regime with plans to upgrade the cellar. The name has been changed to Bélair-Monange, in honour of the wife of Jean Moueix who moved the family to Bordeaux, purchasing Château Fonroque in 1931. Given the situation and potential of this property this is very much one to watch and recent vintages have been of exceptional qualty.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
