It seems that the hail couldn't stop the improvement that we've seen here in the last decade. Right next door to the much-lauded Montrose, Meyney shows the same intensity of black fruit, plenty of grippy tannins too, almost a menthol and clove cool side to it, tension in the finish and good persistence. A very good effort. 5-10 years.

Château Meyney

This property is situated by the Gironde close to Château Montrose and is today owned by a subsidiary of the bank Crédit Agricole.

It comprises a single block of 51 hectares on a slope going down to the estuary and dates from 1662. There is a high precentage of Petit Verdot in the vineyard which gives the wine depth and structure, helping to make it one of the best value wines from Saint-Estèphe on the market today.
