Gigondas, Domaine du Cayron 2022 En Primeur - Case of 6

£117.00

Intense notes of black and blue fruit with a lovely floral character and even a hint of citrus keep it fresh and appealing. On the palate the fruit is rich, concentrated with plenty of supple, ripe tannins before a note of black pepper spice to finish. 5-15 years.

Domaine du Cayron

Michel Faraud was at the helm of this traditional estate for over thirty years until his three daughters – Roseline, Cendrine and Delphine – took charge.

Roseline and Cendrine look after the vineyards and winemaking, whilst older sister Delphine takes charge of the business side of things, although Papa can still often be seen around the vines on his tractor. Their 16 hectares of vines (70% Grenache, remainder Syrah and Cinsault with 1% Mouvedre) are scattered over 20 parcels throughout the Gigondas appellation, with the finest at 500 metres on the Col de Cayron, where the yields are at their lowest and ripening is slow. The Faraud sisters’ tiny garage sized winery sits just below the Dentelles de Montmirail, a striking limestone landmark at the heart of Gigondas. They make just a single wine, with fermentation in concrete vats which are built into the floor and ageing in large old foudres. This is a wine of huge concentration that is a benchmark for the region.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
