Alliance Loire
Situated in Saint Cyr-en-Bourg a few kilometres south of the town of Saumur, the Alliance Loire is an umbrella organisation allowing a number of co-operatives in the Loire Valley to operate together.
Founded in January 2002 today it has eight co-operatives in its group which together account for between 10-15% of the Valley's total production. This includes the Cave de Saumur which was established in 1957 with around 40 growers. Alliance Loire has now grown to nearly 300 members, farming 1800 hectares of vineyards, scattered over 4000 plots. Respect for the environment and terroir is positively encouraged with extra support for members wishing to convert to organic practices. Today Marc Bonnin heads up this co-operative.
