Château de la Solitude
This estate in Martillac has been run by Olivier Bernard of Domaine de Chevalier since 1993. He has undertaken a total renovation of the vineyards and chai which are now really starting to bear fruit.
The estate's 32 hectares are planted with 25 hectares of red varieties (he increased the amount of Cabernet Sauvignon planted as this variety suits the terroir) and seven hectares with white varieties. The vineyard and winemaking follow the model at Domaine de Chevalier for both red and white wines, and this estate's resulting wines offer very good value for money.
