Savagnin

A very ancient white variety, best known from the Jura region of France, that is probably the forerunner of Gewurztraminer and other aromatic varieties. Its most interesting use in Jura is to make the ‘Vin Jaune’ style which tastes similar to a dry sherry, although in its Swiss form you will find it dry and full with a spicy, round flavour.
