Zweigelt

Usually encountered as a soft, inky, young red from Austria, it is sometimes too easy to dismiss this crossbred of Blaufränkisch and St.Laurent as a quaffing wine. Old vines and low-yielding vineyards have more intensity at their core and can age well when the winemaker has used a bit of oak wisely.
