After being introduced to the site by Helen Turley, Jason Pahlmyer purchased the then-named Wayfarer Farm in 1998. Located in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA on the north western reaches of the Sonoma Coast, the vineyard sits 1,100 feet in altitude, just 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean. A dramatic landscape is the home to a 12 ha vineyard, planted on slopes among winding mountain roads and redwoods. Originally planted in 30 one-acre plots devoted to different clones, Wayfarer produces a number of individual expressions of Pinot Noir from Dijon, Pommard and Swan clones, among others. Meanwhile, grapes for the Estate Chardonnay are handpicked and delivered the winery before sunrise. After gentle pressing, the wine is settled for 24 hours before alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in barrel. The first vintage of Wayfarer was produced in 2012, ten years after the vineyard was planted with Todd Kohn winemaker and Cleo Pahlmeyer at the helm.
