Château Canon, 1er grand cru classé 'B' Saint-Emilion 2025 En Primeur (Case of 6)

This wine is still to be bottled and as such the advertised ABV may be subject to change on its eventual arrival and inspection into the U.K.

Beautiful aromas of ripe plum, mulberry, damson and violets greet you before a very pure palate delivers more creamy dark fruit, bitter chocolate and minerality. The acidity is on the right side of fresh, balancing out the dense core of fruit and refined tannins. Salivating with a long finish, this promises to be a memorable Canon.

Château Canon

Château Canon, part of the Chanel group, is designated as a Premier Grand Cru Classé and is situated on the limestone plateau overlooking the historic village of Saint-Émilion on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Surrounded by low stone walls, its vineyards benefit from a remarkable clay-limestone terroir that plays a defining role in the character and freshness of its wines. Porous, fossil-rich limestone absorbs rainwater and releases it gradually, encouraging steady grape ripening, while veins of clay retain moisture, helping preserve freshness. These conditions are particularly suited to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the two varieties grown at Château Canon. Merlot contributes generous fruit, richness and silky texture, while Cabernet Franc brings structure, finesse and aromatic complexity.

Vineyard work is guided by a philosophy centred on restraint and respect for nature. The teams favour horse-drawn ploughing to protect the delicate clay soils and hand-operated pumping over during vinification to encourage careful extraction. The resulting wines combine concentrated fruit with mineral tension and elegance, whilst offering considerable ageing potential.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
