This wine is still to be bottled and as such the advertised ABV may be subject to change on its eventual arrival and inspection into the U.K.

Real intensity on the nose with some beef stock and cassis coming through behind juicy black fruit. Mouton is a gorgeous, generous shape this year, loads of freshness behind lovely indulgent ripe fruit. Intense is the word. Power behind, firm tannins and a clean finish. Superb.

Château Mouton Rothschild

Mouton has a justifiably fine reputation and was promoted to premier Cru classé in 1973 the only château to manage this since the original classification in 1855. Baroness Philippine de Rothschild took over the estate on her father's death in 1988 and continued to drive the estate forward until her death in 2014. Her three children are now co-owners. In great years Mouton achieves an opulence surpassing its first growth neighbours who favour power or elegance. Its labels have proved collectors' items in their own right, with artists being commissioned annually since 1945 - famous names include Picasso and Warhol.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
