Pure, deep cassis and raspberry fruit aromas leap from the glass along with spiced, softer dark fruits and notes of pencil shavings. On the full side of medium-bodied, this offers layers of juicy, bramble fruits, more of that raspberry lift and a fragrant, spicy vein. This is hugely appealing, with an energetic personality, fine grip, and it grows in complexity – it should cellar
nicely, if you can resist!

Staff Review

Cabernets from Margaret River put the region on the map for producing high-quality, consistent wines. Virtually every winery in the region produces a Cabernet, and here Malbec and Petit Verdot are its bedfellows – this lesser-known blend aims to push boundaries.

From initial whole-berry fermentation in concrete vats to preserve perfume and freshness, the macerated wine is pressed into 20% new French oak barriques for 14 months of maturation. Individual parcels are then blended and bottled.

It’s aromatic on the nose with both fresh summer compote and plum fruit leather, a hint of mint and darker molasses notes, followed on the palate by a ripe, rounded fruit core balanced with earthy tannins and a fine, long finish. It is both juicy and approachable now, but also has enough structure to cellar for a few years.
