Khareba Winery

Khareba was founded in 2004 by three brothers called Kharebera. They now have over 1000 hectares of vineyards, 700 in the Kakheti region south-east of Tbilisi and 300 in the north-west of the country at a higher altitude.

Two new wineries have been built, with all the latest stainless steel and technical equipment that you would find elsewhere in Europe and winemaker Vladimer Kublashvili is committed to producing quality wines. There is also a tourist site and restaurant with a series of tunnels built into the Caucasus Mountains by the Russians for military purposes but which now stores wine in perfect conditions. 18 different grape varieties are planted, the main ones being Saperavi for the reds and Mtsvane and Rkatsiteli, once one of the world's most widely planted varieties, for the whites. The aim is to expand away from the traditional Russian market and produce wines in keeping with Western tastes.
