Mencia
Most commonly found in Bierzo reds from Galician Spain, and as the variety Jaen in Portugal’s Dão, there is often a rich, complex and aromatic style to Mencía which is winning many friends. It seems to do best on poorer, more granitic soils where the resulting wine is very harmonious.
